Brooke's Story - Hoping for Reprieve

Updated: Oct 24, 2024

Have you ever gone through a hard season, hoping for reprieve, only for things to get worse?- Brooke T.

If you’ve ever been in the valley, you can attest to how dark and helpless it can be.  And while it may seem like no one understands, you may find yourself in Brooke’s confession, “To be completely honest, I was terrified that I would somehow lose my grip on hope.”  Our hope is that through this story, and your own, you would also be able to say, “In the depths of grief, God has remained faithful. He has been near.”

Reflection Questions

What can you relate to?

As you consider your own life, which part of Brooke’s story seems to reach out for your hand and remind you that you’re not alone?

Consider the phrases, “To be completely honest, I was terrified that I would somehow lose my grip on hope.” or “The suffering seemed long and I began to struggle to surrender. I was scared to trust God."

Do you see yourself in these statements?

What promises can you anchor to?

What is one truth or hope that you can grab ahold of from Brooke’s story and take back into your own life as you seek hope and healing this week? Consider this powerful truth that, “God’s presence and His promises have been profound in this desert season of my life. In the depths of grief, God has remained faithful. He has been near." or “God’s plans for me are good and nothing can thwart that. Years of deep grief will not thwart God’s good plans for me."

Prayer

May the Lord bless you and keep you. Make His face shine upon you. May His favor be upon you and a thousand generations. May He reveal more of his presence to you in the desert seasons of your life. May rivers of living water pour out to fill your soul in the most dry and weary places. God, be present and fulfill your promises over her life.

Amen.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

“Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”

Luke 1:45
